We always have a great meal here, and definitely have our favorites ; Haddock Mediterranean , veal Mario, wedge salad and the Mario pizza! Service is outstanding, the atmosphere is family friendly, and the decor is beautiful.
there is a great dining room in this unassuming place. We ordered apps and pizzas and were big fans of the onion fried green beans (special) and Sicilian pizza. We also got buffalo cauliflower (special) and a large pizza with pineapple. The regular pizza was just ok, the cheese wasn't browned so it tasted a bit off balance. The cauliflower was good but nothing to write home about. the service was great and they were super kid friendly which means I would absolutely go back and get the Sicilian with the kids!
We forgot how good the pizza at Mario's is. We moved back to the area 4 years ago and have been struggling to find a good pizza, we've been settling. Mario's pizza has tasty flavor throughout every bite. The dough is flavorful and crisps nicely. When you're looking for a great pizza, make it the Mario at Mario's, you'll be happy you did!
I thought the pizza was really good compared to other local options. When I walked at 11:45 am on a Tuesday, the bar area was full of people while the rest of the restaurant appeared empty! Super noisy! Maybe there was an event or business party? Seemed like a good sign. Since I was picking up, I just walked over to the cash register and pulled out my cash, since there was a sign notifying you of a 3% surcharge on card charges. Pizza came out hot and smelling delicious! I ordered a large but since there is thick crust, and a 8-slice pizza, it seemed to be what a size medium would look like. The crust was flavorful and crispy on the bottom, but chewy on the sides and top. The crust was thick! There wasn't a lot of cheese grease dripping off, which is a good thing. I felt that the sauce was bland and not very thick, so a little disappointed about that but it wasn't a deal breaker. At $2.50 per topping, the toppings were well-distributed and fresh, so that was good. All in all a very good pizza. It was around $26 for a "large, three topping, 8-slice pizza, for take out" and we really enjoyed it especially since many of the other pizza places near Niskayuna/NE Schenectady are don't sell the style of pizza we like. I understand the positive reviews and happy to have discovered this place close to home.
